The cost of process plant equipment is the basis for most methods of estimating the cost of fixed capital. The required equipment can generally be divided into processing equipment, handling equipment, and other equipment associated with plant services.
The most accurate method of determining process equipment costs is to obtain firm bids from manufacturers or suppliers. Manufacturers can often provide quick estimates that will be very close to the sale price but won't take too long. Second best in reliability are the cost values from the file of previous purchase orders. When used to price new equipment, purchase order prices must be corrected to the current cost rate.
In case of not having information from the previous recommendations, CAF-CAPEX provides information from the previously recommended after being analyzed, standardized and optimized for use as cost estimates.
